"The Golden Rabbit Welcomes the Lantern Festival" Sunxi Community launches an activity to celebrate the Lantern Festival by eating glutinous rice balls and guessing lantern riddles
It’s the Lantern Festival again! In order to carry forward traditional folk culture and enrich the festival cultural life of community residents, on the afternoon of February 3, with the support of the Sunxi Community Party Committee and the Women's Federation, the Sunxi Community New Era Civilization Practice Station (Party-Mass Service Center) and Zhengyang Social Work Agency launched a "Golden Rabbit Welcomes the Lantern Festival" event in Baolong Jiayuan, eating glutinous rice balls and guessing lantern riddles to celebrate the Lantern Festival. More than 70 community elders and family members participated in this event.
Residents at the event were talking and laughing, and the scene was full of joy. Social workers carefully selected classic riddles that are both informative and interesting in advance and hung them up for residents to guess. Everyone looked at the riddles and guessed them. Some meditated silently on their own, while others gathered together to discuss with each other. Those who guessed correctly would receive a souvenir. After guessing the lantern riddles, everyone started to taste the hot glutinous rice balls. Black sesame filling, peanut filling, and purple sweet potato filling were all very popular. While eating the glutinous rice balls, everyone chatted about home cooking, with happy smiles on their faces.
This Lantern Festival celebration is not only a festive blessing from the community to residents, but also enhances everyone’s sense of identity and belonging to the community, creating a happy, festive, peaceful and civilized New Year festival atmosphere. In the future, the Sunxi Community New Era Civilization Practice Station will continue to carry out similar activities and strive to build the community into a civilized, friendly and happy home.
